Lacrosse – Backhand Shooting

Lacrosse Backhand Shooting – Instructions

This page provides details for backhand shooting in lacrosse. This lacrosse shooting technique is also known as a lacrosse shovel shot. This advanced shooting technique has been popularized by Lyle Thompson.

Rather than switching hands (i.e. switching hands for a lefty shot) when coming around from X on the left side, this technique involves keeping the stick in your right hand and shooting almost like a shovel pass. Of course, this technique is reversed for lefties!

For instructions on other shooting techniques (i.e. Behind the Back shooting), please visit the main Lacrosse Shooting section.
