Lacrosse – Defense from X

Defense from X (or Defense Behind The Cage)

This page looks at how lacrosse players should defend from X (defense behind the goal or cage). X is a position behind the goal in lacrosse. It is often an area where defensemen have to stop an opposing player from scoring or feeding a teammate for a score. This can be a difficult position to defend because an agile attackman can score or pass left or right from this position via change of direction dodges, etc. Nevertheless, the videos below provide a number of basic lacrosse techniques used to defend X.

Lacrosse defenders should also learn the techniques used by attackmen to score from X in order to better defend against these plays. For more defensive techniques, please visit the main Lacrosse Defenders section.
